American Consumer Panels Overview

Are you interested in applying for American Consumer Panels “In-Home Usage Tester” work from home position? I guess you’ve landed on this page because you’re wondering if it is legit. Or is this job something you need to think twice about.

Well, you’re not alone. When I first came across this website, I was impressed with the hourly wage that they had advertised. Did you see it?

Well, if you missed it, they’re advertising this work at home job with an hourly rate of $25 to $45 an hour. The best part is, it’s supposed to be a part-time job, and you only need to work 15 to 20 hours per week, guaranteed. The Worst case scenario at 15 hours a week with a wage of $25.00 you’ll earn $375. So best case scenario you’ll make up to $900 per week, at the salary of $45 for 20 hours a week. Enticing, am I right?

Well, after today you’ll be able to understand why I would think twice about this company. Nonetheless, I tried writing this review based on pure and in-depth research, but, I kept coming across many different opinions.

For example, the people that reviewed American Consumer Panels on Glassdoor, have different opinions. Some say it was a great company to work for, while others are distraught and felt like they were scammed. Here, go here and read the reviews for yourself.

Regardless, I couldn’t take the unknown suspense any longer so, I did what I would usually do, and signed up for American Consumer Panels myself. After signing up, I can’t say that this company is a scam or not. I do know that it doesn’t look promising and here is why.

American Consumer Panels Application Process

First of all, you’re prompted to fill out an application. My initial thought was that I would be filling out a job application. I mean it is being advertised as a part-time job, that can be done within your home 95% of the time, while the other 5% of the time, you may be required to travel outside of your home to the brand companies local office in your area; for meetings or training. Don’t worry the traveling should not be any further than 20 minutes away from your home.

Anyhow, I didn’t fill out a job application; instead, I had to answer 5 questions, and this is what they ask.

The first question is asking you if you understand that the position, that you’re applying for is part-time, guaranteed at least 15 to 20 hours per week. Also, your wage would be $25 to $45 per hour. Then you would answer yes or no!

The second question is advising you that some brands will require, you to sign a non-disclosure form before they ship out the product, if you don’t sign this form, they can’t send out the product. Then they want you to answer yes or no, and if you agree to sign the non-disclosure form, then the product can be shipped.

The third question is informing you that there are a wide variety of products which may have significant economic value. ACP wants to know if you’re willing to take care of the product, agree or disagree?

The fourth question is also informing you that their product and market research is to obtain real consumer feedback. Do you agree to provide that information? Answer yes or no.

Finally, the last question on the application informed the applicant, if you want continuous work and a wide variety of in-home product testing opportunities, then ACP needs to collect your demographics such as your age, marital status, gender, and so on.

After all, questions, are completed, you’ll be prompted to enter your email address. ACP does not initially ask you for any other personal information, not your name, or anything else that a typical job application would ask. They want your email address at the moment.

After Signing Up To Both Survey Companies

As you know, I signed up to both survey sites, the first survey website, which was I-Say, allowed me to complete the sign up successfully. They offered me two surveys to complete.

Thank You For Joining I-Say!

I tried both, one was worth 45 points and should’ve taken 10 minutes. Unfortunately, that survey was not available. So, I decided to try the other survey which took the same amount of time but offered fewer points, and I was able to complete the survey.

On the other hand, with mysurvey.com, I received an error message and was not able to complete the sign up successfully. I’m sure there is some glitch in the redirect process so, I didn’t stress it. I already know the trick, that American Consumer Panel has played on me, and anyone else that has signed up to this website.

Thank You For Signing Up To Mysurvey.com

Once I signed up to the two survey sites ACP received a commission, not big at all but, the point is, once they get people signed up to these two sites, they’ll earn a commission for referring others.

Now, the question is, will ACP offer you a job? I don’t know, that is the part that I am concerned about, from my research it doesn’t look like you will be offered any further opportunities.

Good And Valuable

  • I couldn’t find anything useful; besides, I-Say was a legit survey company that you can potentially earn reward points.
  • The questions that American Consumer Panels asked were simple.

The Good And The Bad

Bad And Ugly

  • It’s not a real work at home job.
  • There wasn’t a real job application to fill out.
  • American Consumer Panel made me jump through hoops just to be considered for something, that doesn’t seem like it exists.
  • It took about 30 minutes to an hour to finish all the steps.
  • Mysurvey.com never worked at the time I tried to register. I may try again later.
  • The 2 survey sites have nothing to do with In-Home Product Testing.

Who Is American Consumer Panels For?

I wouldn’t recommend this site to anyone, that’s looking for a real way to earn money because, as I stated earlier I’m not sure if this company is offering real jobs. So, far, it doesn’t look like an offer will come through.

American Consumer Panels Tools & Training

It’s probably safe to say that there will be no tools or training provided.

American Consumer Panels Support

According to the American Consumer Panels website, they offer support through email. They also have included a physical address of some sort. Plus a contact phone number.

I looked up the address, and their office location is supposed to be in the “One World Trade Center.” office building. I also read the reviews that ACP had attached to their website, and although the reviews that were given on Google Maps were rated at a 4.5, never did any reviewer mention anything about ACP.

Most of the reviews were talking about how beautiful the view was in New York from the Empire State Building. Sounds a little shaky to me!

Regardless, the phone number that is listed on the ACP website, I called it, and it was a voice message. To get a hold of a real person, you’ll need a 4 digit extension number.

On the voice message, you’ll also be advised that if you have any questions regarding the In-Home Usage Tester position, please note that they can not answer the phone because they’re swamped with applications. Instead here is what you should do.

First go over to their FAQ’s section, if after you have read through all the frequently asked questions and still have unanswered questions, email them at human.resources@american-consumer-panels.com.

The best part is, it was free to sign up, and the only thing you’ll lose is time.

My Final Opinion of American Consumer Panels

After signing up to the American Consumer Panels, I can’t say it is a scam. However, I can say that I did not receive a response regarding a job offer. It seemed like ACP was more focused on making sure I signed up for the two survey sites.

I did a little more digging and found that there is a company called American Consumer Opinion and National Consumer panel. Could it be that American Consumer Panels is trying to appear as a legit company? I don’t know, at any rate, I wouldn’t recommend them.

Besides, I researched their trademark, and there wasn’t one. Every official company that is hiring for a job will have a trademark. In American Consumer Panels there wasn’t one.

American Consumer Panels Has No Official Trademark

Also, I researched their FTC Guardian badge that they claimed to be members of, and I found that they may be a member of the FTC Guardian program, but at the same time, this FTC Guardian membership is an affiliate program. At any rate, I would not waste my time hoping for a high paying job with these people.

If you’re looking for legit jobs, check the articles out that are listed in work from jobs category.

Update: As of 02/12/2019, I can officially say that this company American Consumer Panels is no good. They have just emailed me thanking me for applying to the In-Home Usage product, the next step they want me to take is to sign up to another survey site which is InboxDollars.
