I find it important for you to know some work at home terms. Working from home has different terminology than working locally.
Work At Home Terminology
Usually, as local workers, we see terms like Full-Time, Part-Time, Seasonal, or Temp to Hire. The terms for working at home are the same. Except there are more terms, that you might find helpful. They are listed below:
100% Remote
This means that the job is 100% remote from your home. Everything is done remotely. Starting from the application process to the training.
100% Remote With Stipulations
The job itself will not be listed like the above. Therefore, there are 100% remote opportunities that will require you to live within so many miles of the corporate office. The reason being is, sometimes mandatory team training or meetings are held locally.
This helps the improvement of yourself. The team members and the company. Not all work at home opportunities require local team meetings. However, it is important to always read the posting in detail, to make sure you are not required to live within so many miles of the local office.
Note: In some cases, the employer will set up an appointment to come to your home to view your work area.
There are also cases that I have heard of when the employer just shows up at your door unannounced and would like to view your work area. I’m sure this only happens for very few employers. With this being said, always have your work area clear and prepared for the show.
Advantages and Disadvantages of 100% Remote
Working 100% remotely can have its advantages and disadvantages. You will have to weigh out what is right for you.
If you can not handle working independently, then working 100% remotely may not be your best option.
The Advantages are:

- You’ll learn to be resourceful and think outside of the box.
- It will feel like you have gained more time in your day.

- You’ll receive a guaranteed paycheck
- And, it could be less stressful
The disadvantages are as follows:
- There will be no supervision, no neighbor, or team to talk with.
- If you ever get stuck or have a technical problem no will be able to run to your rescue immediately.
- Sometimes you have to provide your own equipment
- And, work from home jobs can take a while to get in some cases
Option To Remote
This is when your current employer or a new potential employer offers you the opportunity to work remotely from your home. Of course, certain terms and conditions do apply.
For example, Some employers require that you work 6 months to several years before this option is given. Of course, you will need to be in good standings with that employer before, they will even consider it.
Partial Remote
A partial remote position is when the employer allows you to work from your home on a certain amount of days per week or month. Usually, this is offered during the time of employment or it may even be offered after being employed.
How Are The Positions Listed In Job Posting?
Finding a remote job can be time-consuming and in some cases a little hard to find. They’re not all very noticeable. There is no single place, that you will find remote jobs.
It seems like many employers make it really hard for these type of opportunities to be taken of advantage of. You will have to use the proper keywords in order to make your search more effective and efficient.

My Final Thoughts
As you can see, a work from home job has many options. When I first started online. I was really confused on what the difference between a work at home employee was. And an independent contractor was. By writing this article, I hope that I have explained it well enough for you all to understand.
You can read that article here
All WAH Opportunities Are Not Created Equal
Not all opportunities working from home are created equal, so, it is very important for you to find the position that is a right fit for you.
Before, applying for a work at home job, make sure that you can provide all the equipment that is needed.
If you, don’t have access to the equipment for your work at home opportunity during the application process. Make sure you have it by the time the interview comes.
WARNING: Some employers will actually verify your equipment during the interview process.
Also, keep in mind that most work at home jobs go fast. And do not remain vacant for long.
Lastly, you’ll want to make sure you understand when applying for a WAH job; if you want to be an independent contractor or an employee?
After all this is very important, especially if you are concerned about dealing with your own taxes or not having health benefits.
